BISE Sahiwal Board

It is district located in the south east part of the Punjab Province of Pakistan. The capital of the district is Sahiwal City.

The area has villages which are more than 500 in numbers and is divided into two tehsils names as Chichawatni and Sahiwal. Sahiwal Division’s capital is also Sahiwal city, the division has Three districts which are Sahiwal, Pakpattan and Okara. According to the census of 1998, the district had population of 1,843,194. The native language of the region is Punjabi.

The district has the ruins from the pre historic region which shows that the land was inhabitant from the very old ages. Harappa is an archeological site which is around 30 km from the Sahiwal City. The Harappa city was built approximately 2600 BC. After than that, every ruler has ruled this region due to its livestock and fertility.

Sahiwal is also the name of a cattle breed which is one of the best dairy breed of humped cattle. This region has the best cattle breeds in the subcontinent. Water buffalo is another world famous breed of cattle in this region. Among the main crops of the region are cotton, rice, grain, potato and wheat.

The region has extremely hot climate reaching 50 degree Celsius maximum in the summer. The average rainfall is 2000 mm. The area is also home to many industries includes dairy processing, cotton ginning and pressing, textile flour processing, food processing etc.

The city has a well established education system having many schools and degree colleges in both government and private sector.
